David is so much calmer when he gets home from the program. It’s really made a big difference.
- Back to Normal
After the divorce, I never thought we’d get back to normal. But we’ve been able to, thanks to MYEF.
- Big Sister
Rachel always wanted a big sister to talk to. Now she has one.
- Happy in School
For the first time in months, Aryeh is looking forward to going to school in the morning.
Periodically, we take the children on trips or provide special inhouse entertainment. These engaging events include skill building and teamwork elements. Trips include skiing, karate workshop, figure skating, exercise and more. These trips are designed to help the children build relationships with their mentors in order to enhance the weekly activities.
The holidays, when extended families come together, can be especially difficult in single-parent homes. Our Shabbos meals, Yom Tov programs, Chol HaMoed trips, and signature Chanukah and Purim events bring the joy back to these special days.
A parent is a child’s best advocate. Sometimes, the parent is absent or overwhelmed or entangled in a divorce battle, leaving a void. My Extended Family steps in: our Clinical Director personally works with the schools — resolving issues, following up on reports, and general child/school communication that is a key component of a child’s basic esteem and educational success.
MYEF offers parenting workshops, as well as life coaching sessions to empower parents in their challenging role as single parents. Our parents gain valuable coping skills and a support community with resources to help them.
